Frequently Asked Questions

How much weight can I expect to lose? This number will be different for everyone, but most can expect to lose 5% – 8% of your total body weight during the 16 day reset period, 1% – 2% of your total body weight per week past that until an optimal body weight has been achieved.

Ex: Starting weight of 180lbs = 9-14lb. weight loss during the 16 day reset period and then roughly 1.5-3.5lbs per week thereafter.

How do I order bloodwork? As your Certified Metabolic Balance Coach, I order your bloodwork by giving you a requisition to take to your local Life Labs (if in British Columbia). The bloodwork cost is included in the program cost. If you do not live in BC, Canada, you can have your own bloodwork ordered through your Doctor and receive a discounted rate on your Metabolic Balance program. I will provide you with the mandatory blood tests list that you will need.

What happens if some of my lab results are very much out of range? It is common for some values to be out of range and your custom nutrition plan will have foods chosen specifically to support those values to get back into balance. However, the team of Metabolic Balance Doctors might contact me, your Coach, or suggest you contact your Doctor to discuss any values that should be addressed.

I’m not in menopause yet. Can I still get a plan? Absolutely! Metabolic Balance plans are suitable for anyone who wants to find balance in hormones, insulin, sleep better, improve digestion, reduce allergies, improve skin, lose weight, and more. I have clients in perimenopause, with type 2 diabetes, and PCOS.

How are the foods chosen for my plan? There are a few components to the program that determines which foods you are prescribed. These are your blood lab results, any symptoms you currently experience (joint pain, allergies, migraines, etc.), any medications you might be on, your wellness goals, and dietary preferences. These are your base foods that are perfect to get you into metabolic balance. We will work together to build on your menu together over time.

How long is the program? You and I will work closely together for 6 months to implement new eating habits and foundations of the program to help you maintain results long term. The program starts with a 2 day prep/cleanse, then you will follow your prescribed plan strictly for 14 days. After that, we can start building on your menu with one new food at a time to see how your body responds. This is where you will be coached and checked in on to monitor your progress. You will build a foundation during the 6 months that you can continue on your own forever! Should you decide to start your plan from the start a year or two later, you will always have it to go back to.

What if I don’t like the foods that are chosen for me? You are given a list of several foods to choose from from categories like proteins, vegetables, fruit, starch, and oils. When we do our initial plan set-up together, we go over a list of foods that you might have allergies or intolerances to, or simply do not eat. We can remove a certain amount of these foods from showing up on your plan however, some still might be prescribed if the medical team thinks these foods are going to help you find metabolic balance and meet your goals. You will see success if you follow your prescribed foods list for at least Phase 2 (14 days). After that, we can start adding in foods that are not on your list.

Do I need to buy anything special for this program? All the food prescribed on the plan you can get from the grocery store. You will need a digital kitchen scale to weigh your ingredients for Phase 2 of the program, or longer if you wish. There might be specific supplements suggested on your prescription, if the medical team deems fit. These are also easily obtained from regular pharmacies, health food stores, or Amazon.

Do I have to count or keep track of calories? No you do not. The Metabolic Balance plan encourages that you eat 3 balanced meals each day and these are perfectly portioned for you on your plan. You will be weighing your raw ingredients as you prepare your meals to monitor your perfect portions.

Is this program not recommended for anyone specific? If you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or have some specific medical conditions that prevent you from following the phases of the program. We can discuss these if you have concerns.

Can I get a plan if I am vegan? Metabolic Balance plans can be created for vegetarians who occasionally include some animal proteins in their meals. For strict vegetarians or vegans, plans can be created upon request only, after a detailed review of the case.
