Could Your Gut Be the Missing Piece of Your Menopause Puzzle?
Sometimes the problem isn’t what you’re doing. It’s what you don’t know yet.
If you’re doing “all the right things” but still struggling with bloating, stubborn weight gain, fatigue, skin issues, inflammation, digestive discomfort, or menopause symptoms that seem to come out of nowhere, your gut microbiome may have more influence than you realize.
At Hello Meno, we’re excited to offer GutID microbiome testing as a powerful tool to help women better understand what’s happening inside their bodies. When combined with the Metabolic Balance® program, GutID provides a deeper look at how your gut health may be influencing your metabolism, hormones, energy, and overall wellbeing.
What Is the Gut Microbiome?
Your gut microbiome is the collection of trillions of bacteria and other microorganisms living primarily in your digestive tract. These microbes play a role in:
- Digestion and nutrient absorption
- Blood sugar regulation
- Metabolism and weight management
- Immune function
- Inflammation
- Skin health
- Energy production
- Hormone metabolism and detoxification
Research continues to uncover connections between gut health and many of the symptoms women experience during perimenopause and menopause.
When your microbiome is diverse and balanced, it supports overall health. When it becomes disrupted, you may experience symptoms that seem unrelated but often share a common root cause.

Signs Your Gut May Need Attention
Many women are surprised to learn that gut imbalances can contribute to:
- Bloating and digestive discomfort
- Food sensitivities
- Constipation or irregular bowel movements
- Weight gain, especially around the midsection
- Fatigue and brain fog
- Anxiety and mental health conditions
- Increased inflammation
- Skin issues
- Cravings and blood sugar swings
- Difficulty losing weight despite healthy habits
While these symptoms can have multiple causes, understanding your microbiome can provide valuable clues.
What Is GutID?
GutID is an advanced at-home microbiome test that analyzes a stool sample to provide detailed information about the bacteria living in your gut. Unlike many traditional tests, GutID uses strain-level sequencing technology to provide a highly detailed picture of your microbiome and its potential impact on your health.
The report includes information about:
- Microbiome diversity and resilience
- Beneficial bacteria levels
- Potential pathogens
- Inflammation-related markers
- Gut barrier and mucosal health
- Metabolism-related microbial activity
- Personalized food recommendations
- Targeted probiotic and prebiotic suggestions
You’ll also receive an overall microbiome health score that helps identify areas that may benefit from dietary and lifestyle changes. Together, we will review your results online via zoom.
Why Gut Health Matters During Menopause
Hormonal changes during midlife don’t happen in isolation.
The gut and hormones are constantly communicating with one another. Changes in estrogen levels can affect the gut microbiome, while the microbiome influences how hormones are metabolized and recycled within the body.
This means that improving gut health may support:
- Better digestion
- Reduced bloating
- Improved energy
- Healthier inflammatory responses
- More stable blood sugar
- Weight management efforts
- Overall resilience during menopause
- Disease prevention
- Longevity
While no single test can explain every symptom, GutID can help uncover patterns that may be contributing to how you’re feeling.

Pair GutID With Metabolic Balance®
One of the most exciting applications of GutID is using it alongside the Metabolic Balance program.
Metabolic Balance is a personalized nutrition program designed to help restore metabolic health through targeted food choices, meal timing, and blood chemistry analysis. Many clients experience improvements in weight management, energy, cravings, digestion, and overall wellbeing.
The GutID test provides another layer of insight.
By completing a GutID test before starting Metabolic Balance, we can establish a baseline understanding of your microbiome. The results can highlight areas where your gut may need additional support and help explain symptoms that have been difficult to connect.
Then comes the exciting part.
Over the course of 12 weeks, Metabolic Balance encourages a whole-food, personalized nutrition approach that naturally increases nutrient density and reduces many of the dietary patterns associated with metabolic dysfunction.
Because the microbiome responds to dietary changes, retesting after completing the program can provide a before-and-after snapshot of how your gut ecosystem has changed over time. Many practitioners use repeat testing to observe shifts in diversity, resilience, and beneficial bacterial populations following nutrition interventions.
A Data-Driven Approach to Personalized Nutrition
One of the challenges women face in midlife is conflicting nutrition advice.
One expert says eat more carbs.
Another says eat fewer carbs.
Someone else tells you to eliminate entire food groups.
The reality is that every woman is unique.
Combining GutID with Metabolic Balance allows us to move beyond guesswork and use objective data to guide your nutrition journey.
Instead of chasing trends, we focus on understanding your body and creating a personalized plan designed around your individual needs.
Important Considerations
The science of the microbiome is evolving rapidly. While microbiome testing can provide valuable insights, experts agree that it should be viewed as one piece of the overall health picture rather than a stand-alone diagnostic tool. Results are most useful when interpreted within the context of symptoms, health history, and a comprehensive nutrition strategy. (The Washington Post)
That’s why we use GutID as part of a broader personalized wellness approach rather than relying on test results alone.
FAQ
Gut microbiome health is crucial because it influences digestion, immune function, metabolism, and even mental well-being. A balanced microbiome helps absorb nutrients, protect against harmful bacteria, and regulate inflammation. Disruptions in gut bacteria have been linked to conditions like obesity, diabetes, autoimmune diseases, and mood disorders. Supporting gut health through diet, probiotics, and lifestyle choices can enhance overall well-being.
The gut health tests use your fecal (stool) sample to identify the bacteria that is present in your gut.
The gut report will discover the bacteria that live in your gut. As part of the test you will receive a comprehensive report outlining:
1. An overall gut microbiome health score on a scale of 0 to 100
2. Executive summary including key microbiome health metrics.
3. Gut health flagged areas and pathogen profiles Personalized recommendations for foods and supplements that are helpful for your specific microbiome.
You can absolutely order the gut health test on it’s own. You will still get very insightful information about what steps to take to improve on your health.
Once the lab receives a sample and it passes QC (quality control), processing typically takes 3-4 weeks to yield results. Your results will be then uploaded and the nutritionist will notify you to book in a virtual call to review them.
A breath test is required to diagnose Small Intestinal Bacterial Overgrowth (SIBO), so our microbiome test is not a replacement. However, research has shown that bacteria associated with SIBO can also be detected in stool. The GutID test identifies bacteria linked to SIBO that may be overrepresented in your gut.
Due to the medical nature of the test kits, we cannot accept returns. All sales are final unless your order has not yet been prepared or the test kit arrives to you damaged. In this case, you will be sent a replacement kit.
